Fool’s 48 Film Project

Fool's 48 is an opportunity to write, produce, edit and even act in your own movie! This film project was created to enhance film as art in South Dakota and inspired by the Fischgaard Short Film Project in Aberdeen, SD. Our goal is to create a memorable event for amateurs and professionals alike. Each year over April Fool’s Day weekend, project teams are given 48 hours to create their films from scratch. All submissions are then compiled and featured in a showcase the following Monday evening, where they are screened for the public at the Coyote Twin Theater. The 2019 Fool’s 48 Film Project had ten teams and an audience of 115 for the showcase.

Chick flick club

The Chick Flick Club film series features stories centered on women, whether those are dramas, romcoms, or action flicks. While the slate of movies is mix of classic and contemporary, you can always count on a good time with friends.

This series is made possible by the support of local business sponsors Blue Monarch, The Spa at Wynie Mae’s, and THiNK Thread & Ink.

Chick Flick Club meets every second Monday of the month at the Coyote Twin, with the movie beginning at 7pm. Tickets are $15 for an individual show or $90 for an annual subscription. Cost includes a glass of wine (or beverage of choice), popcorn, and admission.

To keep up with the club, sign up for our monthly Chick Flick newsletter!

raise the roof

 Wanna play for us?
Raise the Roof series may be over with, but that doesn’t mean the music needs to stop!

We're always on the lookout for live music acts. If you're looking for a gig venue, willing to donate a performance, and can help us drum up a crowd—contact us!

Our Raise the Roof concert series was a fundraising effort toward replacement of the roof on the historic downtown Vermillion Theater. All ticket and beverage sales for Raise the Roof events directly contributed to our roof fund. And thanks to you, we reached our goal!

Replacing the roof is the first step in our effort to repurpose and revitalize the Vermillion Theater as a dynamic multipurpose space to host live music / performance events, movies, receptions, lectures, and much more. We have a blank canvas with this space eagerly ask for your help and input as we begin this process.
